MUSCAT - The Higher Education Admission Centre (HEAC) under the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) has extended the enrolment in higher education institutions for 2018-19 till June 7 (Thursday). Students can enrol till 2pm.

The earlier deadline was June 1. The deadline has been extended taking into consideration the weather conditions in the governorates of Dhofar and Al Wusta due to Tropical Cyclone Mekunu, stated a press release.

As many as 40,224 students have already enrolled. Of these, 19,846 are males and 20,378 females. Of these, 36,227 students have stated their choice of study programmes. The number of students who have registered in the Dhofar so far are 3,182. Of these, 2,823 have chosen the courses.

In Al Wusta, 349 students have enrolled, of which 311 have stated their choice of study programmes.

It is expected that extension of the deadline will provide an opportunity for students who have not been able to enrol in the standardised admission system or state their choice of courses during this period.

HEAC has urged students to complete the registration process before the deadline. The initial screening results will be announced based on these registrations on July 1.
