MUSCAT: The National Defence College (NDC) on Wednesday marked its annual day, which falls on January 8 every year, and its 5th anniversary.

A ceremony was held at Al Shafaq Club under the auspices of Sayyid Badr bin Saud al Busaidy, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs.

Maj Gen Salim bin Mussalam Qatan, Commandant of the National Defence College, gave a speech, in which he said this year’s celebration marks five years since the opening of NDC and the graduation of five batches of national cadres who have received high qualification in planning, strategic analysis and decision-making noting that the NDC continues to implement the policies laid down for it in order to realise its national goals and message.

At the end of his speech, the Commandant of the National Defence College prayed to Allah the Almighty to protect His Majesty, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and grant him health, happiness and a long life and safeguard the nation from all harms.

The celebration included a visual display of the progress of the NDC and its role in grooming strategic leaders from various civil and military authorities, patriotic poems and songs and traditional Omani arts staged by the military troupe which represents military and security entities.

The ceremony was attended by the Sultan’s Armed Forces Chief of Staff, commanders of SAF and other military and security services, a number of dignitaries, members of NDC board, academics and senior officers of the Royal Guard of Oman and the Sultan’s Special Force (SSF) and Royal Oman Police.
