Muscat, The Tenth Five-Year Plan will be the founding plan for Oman 2040 Vision, which requires changing of some legal frameworks, His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tareq al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture, has said.

Speaking to Omani youth on the sidelines of Oman Vision conference that concluded on Monday, HH Sayyid Haitham, who is also Chairman of Main Committee of Oman 2040 Vision, said: “We will put in place a programme to implement the vision.”

HH Sayyid Haitham said the two-day conference achieved its goal of reviewing the preliminary vision document, which was developed in recent years through the involvement of everyone to include the aspirations of all citizens of the country.

“It is your vision and what you look forward to,” he said. He added: “I greet every young man who has ideas and wants to be heard. I ask all to share their aspirations with us because when we discuss future vision, we discuss the future of our children.”

On involvement of youth abroad, he said: “Omanis within the country and outside have a common vision and they are welcome to share it with us.”

Calling upon the young people to strive to acquire skills needed in the labour market, he said this will “positively affect individuals’ productivity and improve his/her performance.’’

HH Sayyid Haitham called upon the young people to “take the initiative, seize opportunities, turn to private sector and not wait for the government jobs.’’

He lauded Omani women’s contribution to development, saying: “Women are effective partners, and the Sultanate is ahead of many countries in the field of women’s participation. They have proved their capabilities in many fields and there are no obstacles to their path of success.”
